Martine Neddam has written down some of the technical experiences that she encountered in the years that she has been making Internet art.
We asked Martine to write this text in the context of Archive 2020.
Martine Neddam is an artist who uses language as raw material. She has worked with ‘speech acts’, modes of address, words in the public space, and since the late 1980s created a number of text objects, both in museums and large scale public commissions. In 1996 she has created virtual characters on the Internet, who lead an autonomous artistic existence in which the real author is never disclosed. Martine teaches at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the University of Quebec in Montreal.
